Children will have the opportunity to creatively express themselves and to enter a drawing to win fantastic prizes! Refreshments will be served. Ages 3-11.

 This program is part of the nIc Violence Prevention for Families initiative promoting the development of positive character traits and values as a means to stopping crime and violence in our rural communities.

Water Cycle Bracelets: Live the 'life' of a water drop! Travel through clouds, visit glaciers, make friends in a forest, romp in the ocean, and delve the underground as you play our fun water cycle game. Make a bracelet commemorating your journey while you play!

Folk Singer David H.B. Drake

David Drake, dressed as a shanty man, playing the concertina on the shores of the Great LakesCome listen to the joyful music of folksinger David H.B. Drake as he presents "A Sailor's Songbag," a collection of “shanties” and “fo’castle” sailor songs, sing-alongs and stories about ships, the sea, the Great Lakes, and even the occasional pirate performed on guitar, banjo, concertina, dulcimer and Native American flute.

A native of Milwaukee WI, David has written more than 200 songs of the Midwest. They are frequently heard on Wisconsin Public Radio's "Simply Folk", "Higher Ground", and on public radio networks across the nation. David has served as the shantyman and educator for many tall ships including the HMS Bounty and the Clearwater. He currently serves as musical spokesman and music artist-in-residence / historian for the Wisconsin flagship "Denis Sullivan" and Pier Wisconsin Maritime Center.

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Baseball: Requests for Tickets Due

Timber Rattlers StadiumChildren age 17 & under can spend four prize tickets earned through the Summer Reading Program to receive one free pass to the Timber Rattlers baseball game on Sunday, August 29 at 1:05 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI. You will also receive a voucher for a free hot dog and soda at the game. Limit one free pass per reader. Additional passes will be available for $6.50 each for family and friends to participate. Requests for passes, both free and purchased, are due to the librarian by July 30. Transportation to the game is not included.
