June 14 through August 7, 2010

Get a Free Book!

Everyone 17 and under who signs up for the summer library program will receive a free book to keep, a bookmark, and reading logs. You can sign up at the library or online!<--break-> There are separate online registration sites for kids (individuals who have completed 5th grade or lower) and young adults.

Make a Difference!

This year the Scandinavia Public Library is suspending our end-of-program prize drawings. Instead, we are setting aside $250 to make donations to organizations doing valuable and necessary work protecting Wisconsin's natural water resources. For every hour that each summer program participant reads, the Scandinavia Public Library will donate 50-cents to:

When you turn in your reading log, you will get to choose which group will receive your donation. Additionally, the Premier Community Bank is matching our donations at 50%, so your reading log is actually worth 75-cents!  Ask your parents or other relatives if they're willing to make a matching donation too. We will have baskets available at the circulation desk for additional donations to these worthwhile causes.

Earn Tickets!

  • You will earn a ticket for each hour of reading. Keep track of your time spent reading or being read to on your reading log. Present completed logs at the library to claim your tickets.
  • You will also earn a ticket for each library program you attend.
  • Earn a ticket by submitting an online book review for a children's book or a young adult book. Your ticket will be awarded when the review is posted with your first name and 'Scandinavia Public Library' on the review and you notify your librarian.
  • Earn a ticket by writing a thank you picture or letter to a library donor. The greeting should be "Dear Library Donor" and the signature should include your first name and age. Donated items in the library have either blue or orange stars on their spines. Give your picture or letter to the librarian to send to the donor!
